legalize Gay Marriage

As of January 6, 2014, gay marriage has been legalized in 17 US states and 33 states have Gay marriage ban or laws against same-sex marriages.the Same-sex couples should be allowed to publicly celebrate their commitment in the same way as heterosexual couples. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation states that many same-sex couples “want the right to legally marry and honor their relationship in the greatest way our society has to offer. did you know that “traditional marriage” is historically incorrect? in modern and ancient examples of family arrangements one man and one woman can be considered “unnatural” and gay marriage has correlated with a low divorce rates WHILE bans on gay marriages leads to higher divorce rates! although marriage is a religious right between one man and one woman same-sex marriage should have this right and benefits like heterosexual couples do! also gay marriages bring financial gain to local and state governments because the revenue from gay marriages comes from the marriage licenses, higher taxes and also decreases the cost for state benefit programs. New York did research and found out that legalizing gay marriage would bring them about $142 million to their economy! Did you know that there are 100,00 children waiting to be adopted? legalizing gay marriage could make it easier for the same-sex couples to adopt and create a stable home for these children. n June 7, 2010 found that children of lesbian mothers were rated higher than children of heterosexual parents in social and academic competence and had fewer social problems and in July 2010 study found that children of gay fathers were “as well-adjusted as those adopted by heterosexual parents. ” [46] As Washington Post columnist Ezra Klein argues, “We should be begging gay couples to adopt children. We should see this as a great boon that gay marriage could bring to kids who need nothing more than two loving parents.” [68] this I agree with because all these children want are two loving parents. As these children grow up they would have a lot of question about why they have two mommy’s or two daddy’s while her friends have one mom and one dad. The parents would have to explain this to them and help the child to understand but other than this the children would have a nice place to call home! in a supreme court case in 1967 confirmed that marriage is “one of the basic civil rights to man” and same-sex marriages should receive the same protections that are given to interracial marriage so therefor same-sex marriage is a civil right!!! WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON GAY MARRIAGE?
